Research Assistant for WaterSCAPES (Science of Coupled Aquatic Processes in Ecosystems from Space) University Research Center
- Screen and analyze Landsat image archives using USGS and GLCF websites to create a time series of cloud-reduced imagery.
- Image classification of cloud-reduced imagery to create a time series of vegetation cover maps of Sian Ka'an.
- Utilization of CSTARS image archives to locate and analyze 5-20m multispectral imagery covering areas of interest (AOIs) identified within the Landsat imagery. SPOT imagery may be used to validate Landsat classifications and to obtain more spatial detail of specific AOIs within Sian Ka'an and the Everglades.
- Extraction of MODIS vegetation index time series for different vegetation types, with special attention paid to areas of past disturbance.
- Analysis of radar backscatter signals from AOIs utilizing Radarsat, ERS and other SAR imagery obtained through CSTARS.
